"This significant award proves what we've always known; the water in Naturally Iowa's Green Bottle(TM) Spring Water is the best-tasting water consumers can find anywhere," said Bill Horner, native Iowa farmer, agricultural entrepreneur and CEO of Naturally Iowa, Inc. "We are so proud that our bottling partner, Grand Springs Natural Spring Water in Virginia, has won this award for the water that we use in our Green Bottle(TM) Spring Water."
2009 was the second consecutive year that Naturally Iowa's bottling partner, Grand Springs Natural Spring Water, has won top honors at the International Water Tasting. The spring water source for Grand Springs is a clear, pure spring near Alton, Virginia six hundred feet below certified organic fields east of the Shenandoah Mountains. This spring provides a refreshing water of exceptional flavor and character whose superior qualities are repeatedly noted by competition judges and the public alike.
"We are very proud of the special qualities of our spring water," said Robert Smith, owner / operator of Grand Springs. "We appreciate each and every award that our spring water has won. Of course, the greatest reward for us is the taste and refreshment that our spring water brings to consumers. It's an honor to be the bottling partner for Naturally Iowa's Green Bottle(TM) Spring Water. Naturally Iowa shares our commitment to great taste, quality and environmental stewardship."
Naturally Iowa's CEO, Bill Horner noted that Green Bottle(TM) Spring Water is bottled in the revolutionary INGEO(TM) bottle from NatureWorks LLC. The INGEO(TM) bottle is made from U.S. plants... not oil, and requires significantly less energy to produce. The compostable INGEO(TM) bottle is used for all Naturally Iowa beverages, including spring water, fluid milk and drinkable yogurt.
"This international taste award comes at a fortuitous moment, shortly after we announced our partnership with GreenGuard Associates, makers of the ORCA Green composting system," said Bill Horner. "To us, it makes perfect sense to offer consumers an inspiring product from start to finish, from the award-winning taste of Green Bottle(TM) Spring Water to the innovative use of environmentally-beneficial composting systems."
Previously, Naturally Iowa's Green Bottle(TM) Spring Water gained distribution in the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Washington, DC headquarters, and the company was selected as a "BioPreferred" supplier to the U.S. Government. Green Bottle(TM) Spring Water was also chosen as the exclusive bottled water for the food service venues at the U.S. House of Representatives as part of its "Green the Capitol" Initiative.
